Wedding shower / River Street

This past weekend was fantastic. One of my really good friends, Christine, who is also one of my bridesmaids, came into town. The weekend started with a wonderful wedding shower thrown for me by my church. I got to eat lots of tasty sweets and got some really awesome gifts.

The next day I got to show Christine one of my favorite cities, Savannah. The weather was a little less than desirable, but that did not put a damper on our day. We ate lunch with the pirates at the Pirate House, which is an old seaman's inn that was mentioned in Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island.

We walked along the famous cobble stone lined River Street and looked at all the quaint shops and watched huge ships come by on the Savannah River. We watched candy makers make salt water taffy and toured The Peacemaker, an old-timey sailing ship that had made its port in Savannah. To bring in the day we shopped on Broughton Street until a storm started to roll in. The car ride home was full of great conversation about movies and even a little politics.
